FLIPPOP is an urban experimental project initiated and operated by FLIP studio in 2016. We rented the local storefront and renovated it as a 10 square meter urban mini space. The project tactically adopts the principle of time-sharing, transforming the storefront into a multi-purpose space, including gallery, salon, pop sale, event, coffee, etc., according to the needs of different tenants. It was named “FLIP” because the unique feature of the space is a 2.5m x 2.5m “flipping” door: when it opens, it becomes a social space, connecting the interior with the street; when it closes, it turns into a pure intimate white space. The project has held over 30 events and exhibitions.
